Doing Ayahuasca Alone

The Intensity of Ayahuasca varies significantly. Sometimes Ayahuasca is a roller coaster ride and you are hanging on for dear life and at other times Ayahuasca is like a gentle walk through a quite meadow on a lovely sunny afternoon. If all moments of an Ayahuasca ceremony were smooth sunny days doing Ayahuasca alone wouldn't be much of a problem, but the fact is, they are not, and this is a critical and significant point to understand.

Many people want to just obtain some Ayahuasca and perform their own little ceremony with themselves in the room with no one else watching or leading. If you are a veteran Ayahuasca taker this is definitely feasible and always an option. If however you are a beginner or if it is your first time taking Ayahuasca by yourself, drinking Ayahuasca alone could have drastic repercussions on your well being and on whether you will ever want to use Ayahuasca again. Even with an amazing Shaman, Ayahuasca ceremonies can be extremely complex and turbulent and need to be navigated by someone truly experienced.

What a well experienced Shaman does is he or she creates a container and holds the space so the medicine can be used properly and securely. The Shaman will create a strong anchor in the room so you will feel guided and lead. If he or she is a well trained Shaman you will feel them like an Oak tree, firmly planted and unmovable in the room. Because Ayahuasca journeys last on average between four to six hours, the Shaman's songs, energy, guidance and presence will help navigate and guide you through the Ayahuasca ceremony. None of these important criteria would happen if you were performing a ceremony by yourself.

Taking Ayahuasca alone is a gamble and very risky, I strongly don’t recommend it, please choose wisely.
