The Importance Of Choosing A Good Shaman

I cannot convey enough the importance of choosing a highly qualified and trustable Shaman. Ayahuasca journeys can sometimes be a roller coaster ride in terms of intensity and power and you absolutely need an exceptional Shaman to navigate you through the ups, downs and the spins of an Ayahuasca ceremony.

In an Ayahuasca ceremony the Shaman is in a direct relationship with the medicine in many ways. If his purpose with you is tainted and unclean and he or she doesn't have your best interest at heart the Ayahuasca will not necessarily be able to protect you because the Shaman's energy will overpower the Ayahuasca. Your mind and being are in an absolute fragile state when you are on an Ayahuasca journey. You are almost in a state of complete surrender and innocence, like a young new born baby. Imagine a baby coming into an environment that is being manipulated, violated and impure. The repercussions could be devastating to the baby. This kind of experience can easily happen to you if you are not with a highly qualified and trustworthy Shaman. Just like there are bad doctors that can make your health worse, there are also bad Shamans that can make your being and spirit worse.

One must realize that even with a highly qualified Shaman you know and trust the Ayahuasca ceremony can still be extremely difficult and psychologically intense. Imagine being with a Shaman who may be manipulating you or not conducting himself professionally while you are journeying through an intense roller coaster ride of Ayahuasca. The experience could have lasting ramifications.

In choosing a Shaman one should always check with the people the Shaman has worked with previously, if they give great reviews, then give it a go and still proceed with caution. Going blindly into a ceremony with a Shaman you know nothing about is extremely unwise and very risky. The magnificent gifts that Ayahuasca has to offer should not be discounted and penalized because a few Shamans lack integrity and have their hearts in the wrong place.
